GEEF 2023 on Sustainable Development

The 5th Global Engagement & Empowerment Forum on Sustainable Development (GEEF 2023) was held at Yonsei University in Seoul to resolve pressing sustainability issues. The event theme was "Turning Point: From Crisis to Opportunity," which drew a diverse group of sustainable development experts, including former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Graça Machel, Deputy Chair of the Elders. Discussions centred on digital health, infectious disease diagnosis, smart cities, the future of higher education, the climate crisis, social innovation, and decarbonization. The forum highlighted Yonsei University's commitment to sustainability and provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions on crucial sustainability issues.

Professor Hyun-Kyung Lee from UIC's Culture and Design Management (CDM) presented on the topics of 'Toilet Design for Saving the Earth' and 'UNOSD Summer Camp' between 2:40 pm and 3:40 pm. Keeheon Lee from UIC's Creative Technology Management (CTM) also gave a presentation on 'Emerging Technologies for Better Engagement and Empowerment' between 12:10 pm and 1:10 pm.

The GEEF allowed participants to engage in in-depth discussions on various sustainability-related topics and highlighted the commitment of Yonsei University to sustainability and global cooperation.
